The Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake

The Church of the Good Shepher

The church was built in 1892 by the architect, Temple Lushington Moore. Its distinctive feature is the twin aisled nave with single aisled chancel. The stained glass windows were designed by Francis Skeat in the mid 20th century. The church has a small three manual pipe organ by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd from 1901.

The church is located on Sandown Road, Lake, and is generally open daily, Monday to Saturday, from 8.00am to early evening, although it is occasionally locked earlier on Wednesday and Saturday.

The principal act of worship is the Parish Mass at 9.30am on Sunday; a modern catholic liturgy suitable for all ages, with refreshments afterwards. A warm welcome to all. Evening Prayer is said Monday to Friday at 5.30pm, unless it is the parish priest’s rest day, which is a moveable feast!

On Thursday there is Holy Hour from 8.55am to 9.55am, preceding the 10am Mass, when there is an opportunity for quiet prayer and meditation before the Blessed Sacrament.
